DTI Iloilo Provincial Director
Diosdado P. Cadena, Jr. urged other non-government organizations and other groups
to follow the success now enjoyed by the Taytay sa Kauswagan Inc. (TSKI) and
its marketing arm, the Tinukib Foundation Inc.
“We hope to see other NGOs to
replicate this success. TSKI has provided economic, social and cultural
development of the country,” Cadena told the media at the sidelines of the
grand launching of Tinukib at the Festive Walk Parade in Megaworld’s Iloilo
Business Park.
Tinukib’s second pasalubong center was launched on
Wednesday, January 18, 2017. Its first outlet was launched three years ago at
the TSKI Building in Pavia, Iloilo, according to TSKI Executive Director Angelo
Solarte.
“We saw how Tinukib grew as the marketing arm of TSKI,” said Cadena, citing how
TSKI started from a small micro-finance company and diversifying to business
development services providing product development technology, skills training
and marketing programs to its members.
Cadena recalled that TSKI started
in 1986 as an NGO with a P2,500 starting fund to register at the Securities and
Exchange Commission. In the early 1990’s, he added, TSKI borrowed from the
financing program of the DTI amounting to P250,000.
Cadena said TSKI was able to repay
its loan because of its good financial management.
From there on, TSKI have now grown
into a billion-peso asset, Cadena added.
