Consumers will now have more access to the
services of DTI VI with the launching of its radio program, “Konsyumer kag Iban
Pa sa Rehiyon 6,” today, October13. There will be a caravan around the city followed
by a press conference at Days Hotel Iloilo.
DTI Undersecretary for Consumer Protection Group Teodoro Pascua will grace the event.
“DTI VI believes that a radio program
dedicated exclusively to consumer information and education will increase
consumer awareness of their rights and responsibilities,” said DTI VI OIC
Regional Director Rebecca M. Rascon.
This is the first radio consumer education
program of DTI in the region that will provide its audience proper information
that affects their daily lives, issues and concerns on consumer rights and
responsibilities, product quality and safety, and frontline government services
and projects.
Through this program, consumers will be
able to know and exercise their rights for protection against dishonest traders
and defective products and be informed about the fair trade laws that protect
them.
Consumers will be informed of the suggested
retail price, as their price guide for basic necessities and prime commodities.
It will also serve as a venue for them to elevate their consumer complaint to
the DTI or any concerned agency.
“A well informed consumer is less likely
to be victimized,” she added.
