The DTI – Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program
(DTI-CARP) Guimaras Unit, along with its provincial counterparts, joined the fourth
round of synchronized planning with the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR)
together with the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) at the La Carmela
de Boracay Hotel and Resort, Boracay Island in Malay, Aklan from February 15 - 17,
2017.
During the presentation of planned activities,
focus was given to food processing enterprises.
For DTI and DAR Guimaras, both agencies
agreed to exert efforts to ensure that the TPAS Agrarian Reform Cooperative
will be able to meet the Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA) requirements in
getting a License to Operate (LTO).
Other activities slated for Guimaras are
for the enhancement of the handicrafts industry and participation to trade
fairs, both in the local and national level. The aim is to maximize the
assistance provided to agrarian reform beneficiaries in Region VI by the three agencies.
The project is part of a collaborative effort
to ensure that activities between agencies are attuned to the thrust of the
national government.
