Consumer orgs discuss activities to increase consumer’s vigilance

Consumer groups identify activities to promote consumer awareness

The DTI Guimaras Provincial Office recently sit down with consumer groups to identify programs and activities aimed at promoting consumer awareness in the province. Presently, there are 13 consumer organizations assisted by DTI Guimaras.

“When consumers are vigilant, they become empowered. When they become empowered, they become more protected,” said DTI Guimaras Information Officer Designate Melecia U. Pait.

The group agreed to conduct more information drives in the barangays.

The consumer organizations believe that “every retailer can also be a vigilant consumer,” Pait added..

Other activities lined-up for the year are attendance to World Consumer Rights Day, Consumer Welfare Month and Pamaskong Diskwento Caravan.  The members are likewise encouraged to observe the conduct of weighing scales inspection.

The group will also hold a Consumer Quiz Bee Contest in schools in October.
