MSMEs, DTI partners gather for NKATBP

All roads lead to this city on Monday as the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) VI launch the “Negosyo Konsyumer, Atbp.” (NKATBP) here with over 500 participants from all over Western Visayas gathering at the Iloilo Convention Center from October 10 to 12, 2016.

DTI Asst. Secretary Blesila A. Lantayona will be the keynote speaker during the grand opening at 9am.

Asst. Secretary Ameenah A. Fajardo will also grace the event along with other key officials from the regional and provincial offices in the region, led by DTI OIC-Regional Director Rebecca M. Rascon.

The grand opening will include the awarding of small business corporation checks to small and medium enterprise loan recipients; awarding of checks to beneficiaries of bottom-up budgeting; awarding and recognition of best shared service facility; awarding of Bagwis Award; and, recognition of partners from various national government agencies, local government units, non-government organizations, and the academe, among others, who had been DTI partners in the implementation of its various programs and projects.

The NKATBP aims to bring all the functional groups of the agency in one setting as part of the government’s effort of increasing people’s awareness on the services offered by the DTI, in order to benefit the industries and consumers.

The Industry and Investments Group (IIG) is in charge of investment promotion in activities critical to the DTI's trade and industry development program; the International Trade Group (ITG) promotes domestic and international trade and commerce; the Consumer Welfare and Trade Regulation (CWTRG) is in charge of the enforcement of laws to protect consumers, consumer education, and formation of consumer groups; while the Regional Operations and Development Group (RODG) is responsible for the field operations of the DTI in the regions and provinces.

With this activity, the DTI eyes of advancing and promoting its various services more accessible to the micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in the region. Likewise, to apprise them of new trends to further promote their products and services.

Aside from these, there will be a Panublion Regional Trade Fair that will showcase foods, wearables and crafts from Western Visayas with 55 MSMEs joining the exhibit. It runs from Oct. 10 to 16 at the SM City Activity Center from 10AM to 9PM.
