Five pairs of student-parent contestants
from the provincial offices will vie for the 1st Regional Consumer
Welfare Quiz Bee contest that will be held at the DTI Regional Office AVR at
9AM on Friday, October 28, 2016.
The student contestant, along with their
mother or father, or in any case guardian, shall be from Grade 7-12 (high school)
who were the provincial champions, from the provinces of Aklan, Antique, Capiz,
Guimaras and Iloilo.
The activity will tackle questions from
the following fair trade laws/topics: consumer rights and responsibilities, business
name law, product service and warranty, deceptive sales acts and practices, gift
check, price act, consumer act, labelling and fair packaging, CWD Program, no return
no exchange, standards, senior citizens/PWD, price tag, sales promotion, and handling
own complaints.
The pairs are: Aklan Province – Lyka Dawn
Macolbacol of Regional Science High School for Region 6 with parent Doris
Macolbacol; Antique Province – Rose Barcebal of San Pedro National High School
with sister/guardian Annie Rose Barcebal; Capiz Province – Donna F. Velez of
Vicente Andaya Sr. National High School with mother Adora Velez; Guimaras
Province – Stephie Rose Magno of Buenavista National High School with mother Gerlie
Magno; and, Iloilo Province – Joachim Regalado of Philippine Science High
School – WVC with parent Cyril Regalado.
The champion takes home P7,000 worth of gift
certificates (GCs); the 1st runner up - P 6,000 worth of GCs; 2nd
runner-up - P5,000 worth of GCs; and two consolation prizes at P1,000 worth of
GCs each. Each pair will also receive a Certificate of Recognition from DTI
Region VI.
The activity is part of the observance of
Consumer Welfare Month this October.
