Consumers may soon check prevailing prices of goods online – DTI VI

DTI employees monitor the prices of basic commodities in malls here and encoding the same at the online price monitoring system. The program, which is still on test mode, aims to provide the general public online access on the prevailing prices in the market.

Geared on providing consumers accurate and quick access on prevailing markets prices of basic necessities and prime commodities, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) would soon introduce its online price monitoring system (OPMS) to the general public. 

Once launched, the system will enable real time submission of monitoring reports by field/regional offices and broaden the scope of monitoring activities of price trend in the market nationwide, in just one click.

The initiative would likewise provide a secured database on the prices of basic necessities and prime commodities to provide a faster way to generate historical data for easy access to the general public.

The system is designed and developed compatible with mobile applications iOS and Android.

DTI VI OIC-Regional Director Rebecca M. Rascon said that this initiative would provide a venue for the consumers to view price trends and prevailing prices of basic necessities and prime commodities nationwide.
