ANITA FERIA

Anita ‘Anet’ Feria is the pioneering person behind the famous Negros Occidental ceramic industry for world market. She eventually innovated the mix of ceramics with handloom pandan leaves which under the brand Anaware created an international acceptance for exports to Europe, USA, Australia and Japan.

Nang Ana or Ms. Ana C. Cordova started her business in the year 1969. At first it was just a hobby, eventually she decided to sell her products. Straw mats, placemats, banig and other straw products were her first products.

Loreta E. Zaragosa, the great matriarch of the Katikati community in Brgy. San Miguel, Jordan, Guimaras started weaving at the age of six.

PASCUAL DEITA

Mr. Pascual Deita is a producer of fine-crafted bamboo products from Brgy. Bonga, Panay, Capiz.  His artistic prowess and creativity were developed when, as an out-of-school youth in 1975, he was identified as one of the scholars of the Capiz Provincial Government of a vocational course on bamboo craft production offered by the Capiz Model Production Center of NACIDA (National Cottage Industries Development Authority) in Ivisan, Capiz.

HERMELITA “MELING” TESNADO SANCHEZ

Nang Meling is a resident of Barangay Sto. Rosario, Pandan, Antique.  She was born on January 15, 1941. As a mat weaver, she augmented her income by trading “banig” to support her six children in school.

SUSIMA MARTE DE LA CRUZ

Nanay Susing or Susima Marte dela Cruz, the matriarch of the Dela Cruz House of Piña in Aklan grew up helping her mother weave pure piña cloth. Their efforts gave birth to the Dela Cruz House of Piña, a homegrown business which has enabled her to send all her children to the best schools in Manila.
