The Department of Trade and
Industry (DTI) Region VI is set to unveil its Negosyo Center (NC) in the Province
of Guimaras on Thursday, January 7. This is the 9th NC in Western
Visayas since the start of the project here.
The NC’s are facilities which
provide services to support the growth of micro, small and medium enterprises
(MSMEs), such as business registration assistance, business advisory services,
as well as monitoring and evaluation of processes.
To make it easier and faster for
entrepreneurs to start and register their businesses at the local level, the
facilities are linked to a government project integrating all services of
agencies involved in business registration or the Philippine Business Registry
System.
Aside from making business
registration easier, NC’s provide other services to MSMEs such as technology
transfer, production and management training programs, as well as marketing
assistance.
The DTI ensures that all its policies,
programs and activities will continue to focus on MSMEs, newly-appointed DTI Secretary
Adrian S. Cristobal, Jr. earlier said. Cristobal was appointed ad interim
Secretary of the department by President Benigno S. Aquino III effective Dec.
31, 2015.
On Wednesday, January 6, the Negosyo
Center in Passi City will be introduced at the Passi City City Hall to be led by
DTI Iloilo Provincial Director Wilhelm M. Malones and Passi City Mayor Jesry T.
Palmares.
