The
rapid infrastructure developments in the region may have spurred a conducive
economic environment and opportunity to entrepreneurs, manifested by last year’s
data on business name renewal and registration.
According
to the data from DTI VI-Trade Development Division, Region VI new applications
of business name registration totaled 19,267 in 2015. Aside from this, renewal
of business name registration increased from 2,786 in 2014 to 2,968 in 2015, or
an increase of roughly seven percent.
DTI
VI TDD Chief Felisa Judith Degala said that the result could be perceived that
the public is confident of the economic condition in the region and the
continuous effort to provide an enabling environment for entrepreneurs “that is
why many engaged and ventured into business.”
Other
contributing factors considered for the vibrant economic environment in the
region are the establishment of Negosyo Centers, and the conduct of business
consultations and entrepreneurship seminars conducted by the DTI, she added.
DTI
VI OIC-Regional Director Rebecca M. Rascon said that a DTI-registered business
entity could easily avail of the services and programs of the government, is protected
by law because it has a legal identity and ensures that consumers are protected,
among others.
