Iloilo's 1st District towns get weighing scales

The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Iloilo Provincial Office distributed two sets of weighing scales and steel enclosures to each of the municipality in the 1^st Congressional District of Iloilo on Friday, February 12.

DTI Iloilo Provincial Director Engr., Diosdado C. Cadena, Jr. led the distribution in cooperation with the Office of 1^st District Rep. Richard Garin, which gathered all the municipal mayors to receive their equipment in the Municipality of San Joaquin.

The DTI, in coordination with local government units (LGUs), is putting up Timbangan ng Bayan centers in public markets that will provide the buying public an effective means of checking the accuracy of the weight and quantity of the goods they are buying.

Cadena said that the project shall provide reliable accurate weighing scales in the public markets.

Under the Agreement, the local government unit shall identify where to put the facility “in conformity” with the DTI. The Timbangan ng Bayan must be permanently established and shall noticeable to the buying public.

The DTI VI will distribute a total of 256 weighing scales to all public markets, as follows:
