DTI orients LGUs, suppliers on fair trade laws

Trade Development Division Chief Felisa Judith Degala gives an overview of various consumer protection laws to bids and awards committee members, supply officers, and business construction suppliers in the Province of Guimaras.

“Are we getting the right supplies? The right bidder?”

These are the questions posed by DTI VI Trade Development Division Chief Felisa Judith Degala to the members of the bids and awards committee (BAC), supply officers and business construction suppliers in the Province of Guimaras on Thursday, July 21, 2016.

“Let us not only look at the price but [they] must be a responsive bidder,” Degala emphasized during the Orientation on Selected Fair Trade Laws for local government units’ BAC TWG, contractors and hardwares initiated by DTI VI.

The forum discussed the importance of business name registration, consumer guide on product quality and safety, repair shops accreditation, warranty/no return, no exchange, and likewise the salient points in the PCAB accreditation.

Engr. Ruel Cortum, municipal engineer of San Lorenzo town, said “it is good that everybody understands the requirements in joining bidding. We also appreciated the importance of accrediting repair shops.”

Marilyn Molate of ALJ Construction and Supply based in Buenavista town appreciated the conduct of the orientation as she learned a lot of processes in the conduct and in joining the bidding process.
