Various food processors, health and
wellness operators, producers of wearables and homestyle, and fresh fruits and
vegetables traders are up to showcase their products and services during the
weeklong Iloilo MSMEs Expo 2016 on July 18 to 24, 2016.
There will be 47 MSMEs from the
city and province of Iloilo participating in the activity organized by the DTI
Iloilo Provincial Office. The product showcase will be held at the Activity
Center of SM City-Iloilo from 10AM to 9PM.
In Iloilo City, 14 MSMEs will join
the exhibit; 15 MSMEs from the 1st District; three MSMEs from the 2nd
District; seven MSMEs from the 3rd District; six MSMEs from the 4th
District; and, two MSMEs from the 5th District of Iloilo.
DTI VI OIC-Regional Director Rebeca
M. Rascon said the activity aims to promote the products of the MSMEs. “We
assist them to link and introduce their new products in the market. Feedback from
buyers also help in further developing their products,” she said.
Rascon said MSMEs contributes largely
to the economy.
The MSMEs are considered the
backbone of the Philippine economy as they comprise 99 percent of total
business establishments in the country and the generator of a huge percentage
of jobs and economic activities locally.
Ms. Valerie S. Maravilla,
chairperson of the Iloilo Provincial MSME Development Council, will welcome the
guests and participants, while DTI Iloilo Provincial Director Diosdado P.
Cadena will lead the toast for the fair’s success.
