The Philippine Chamber of Commerce
and Industry (PCCI) - Aklan Chapter has committed to support the newly-launched
Negosyo Centers (NC) in the municipalities of Ibajay and Altavas in the
province of Aklan.
PCCIs Jun Aguirre, reading the
board resolution of the group, emphasized that the business organization sees
the program not to compete with the existing MSMEs but to bring economic
progress resulting to vibrant economic activities and consumers’ high
purchasing power.
The NC is a big help to micro,
small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), he said.
The Negosyo Center is a salient
feature of Republic Act No. 10644, otherwise known as “Go Negosyo Act,” which
seeks to strengthen micro, small and medium enterprises to create more job
opportunities in the country.
Ibajay Mayor Ma. Lourdes Miraflores
believed that with the NC, those who want to put up their businesses and
budding businessmen “will be guided on how to manage their businesses and
become sustainable.”
In Altavas, Mayor Denny D. Refol
welcomed the establishment of the NC, which is situated at the middle of the
town’s public market. Its strategic location would enable constituents to have
more access to the services of the DTI, he added.
DTI Aklan OIC-Provincial Director
Ma. Carmen I. Itturalde, on the other hand, discussed the importance and the
various services the NC offers to the public. The NC could further economic
development in the municipality as it would provide ample assistance to local
entrepreneurs.
