The DTI VI is eyeing to establish additional
shared service facilities (SSF) projects in the region, including Negros
Occidental, this year. It has allotted P9.8-million budget for the establishment
of 13 SSFs.
The SSF Project is being implemented nationwide
with project partners such as non-government organizations, people’s
organizations, cooperatives, business associations, local government units,
state colleges/universities, and other similar government and training
institutions.
It aims improve the productivity and
competitiveness of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) by providing
them with machinery, equipment, tools, systems, skills and knowledge under a
shared system.
In Aklan Province, the beneficiaries get to
avail of the School-based Loomweaving Facility on Pina-Abaca Fibercraft Industry
and the Facility Support for the Production of Handcrafted Fashion Bags and
other Souvenir Items. Antique Province,
on the other hand, has SSFs on Salt Making, Food Processing, and Packaging Facility for Muscovado.
Capiz Province has SSF on Coir Production Upgrading,
while Negros Occidental has Processed Food Toll Packaging Support Facility and
Services, and the Enhanced Organic Farm Production through Mechanized Composting.
Antique gets to have the biggest chunk of the
budget with P2,874.840 followed by Negros Occidental at P3,525,040. Capiz with
P1,550,000, Aklan with P1,007,250, and Guimaras, P835,985.
As of December 31, 2015, there are already 59
SSFs in the region totaling P18,062,504.18.
The beneficiaries of the projects are the actual
and potential users of the SSF which should be predominantly cooperatives,
associations or groups of MSMEs including MSMEs or individual entrepreneurs.
