DTI Iloilo, Iloilo City launch Yaman Pinoy Project

The DTI-Iloilo Provincial Office and the Iloilo City Government (ICG) recently launched the implementation of various skills training under the Yaman Pinoy Project of the DTIs Bottom-Up Budgeting (BUB).

DTI Iloilo Provincial Director Engr. Diosdado P. Cadena, Jr., Mayor Jed Patrick E. Mabilog, City Councilor Eduardo Peñaredondo and DTI-Iloilo Provincial Office Senior Trade and Industry Development Specialist Ma. Luisa E. Velasco attended the launching at the Diamond Jubilee Hall of the Department of Education-Division of Iloilo City on Monday, March 7.

Around 270 beneficiaries from the different city districts here shall undergo trainings on six categories, namely: candle making, rug mat making, food processing, beauty care, therapeutic massage, and flower arrangement.

These trainings shall likewise enable the recipients to participate in trade fairs.

Under the agreement, the DTI shall assist the ICG in the provision of technical assistance and monitoring and evaluation of the project. The ICG, on the other hand, shall ensure the implementation of the project in accordance with the approved plans and programs of work.

The DTI and the ICG shall conduct evaluation and monitoring on the status of the project.

The project aims to promote an entrepreneurial mindset among the vulnerable sectors of the city; conduct capacity building, skills training activities, product development, packaging and marketing to beneficiaries; and provide sustainable income generating project to the recipients.
