DTI Iloilo urges service repair shops to accredit

The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) - Iloilo Provincial Office advised the general public to avail only of the services of DTI-accredited repair and service shops, as provided under PD 1572 otherwise known as the Accreditation Law of Services and Repair Enterprises.

A customer is assured of the competence of the shop and their technical personnel in doing the repair and service job.

In patronizing DTI-accredited repair service shops, customers are also assured that their unit under repair is covered by insurance should there be unforeseen events that may happen to the accredited shop.

Under the said law, no service shops can operate without first being accredited by the DTI. This is to ensure the public of reliable, ethical and competent service. This accreditation scheme covers repair shops for air condition, refrigeration, motor vehicle (talyer), heavy equipment, computer, electronic and electrical units.

As of February 2016, there are already 65 applications filed at DTI Iloilo Provincial Office.

These service repair shops must renew their accreditation annually with the DTI, on or before January 31 of each year. A 25 percent surcharge is added to the accreditation fee for failure to renew accreditation within the said time.

For inquiries about repair and service shop accreditation, please the DTI-Iloilo Provincial Office located at corner J.M. Basa – Gen. Macario Peralta Streets, Iloilo City, or to the DTI provincial office nearest you.
