Department of Trade and Industry
(DTI) Iloilo Provincial Office Senior Trade and Industry Development Specialist
Demar L. Solinap has called on all contractors to renew their licenses before
the Philippine Contractors Accreditation Board (PCAB) before the deadline.
Solinap, the account officer for
the PCAB, said that the provincial offices had been assisting contractors by
pre-screening their applications. The period of renewal had started last
February yet, and would end this June.
“Provincial offices pre-screen the
documents of applicants to ensure that they have accomplished the requirements before
they submit their application to the PCAB in Metro Manila,” explained Solinap.
Contractors with PCAB licenses
ending in 0-1 should have been renewed in February, those ending in 2-3 should
have renewed in March, 4-5 in April, 6-7 this May and 8-9 in June, including
new applications approved from January to June this year.
A PCAB-licensed contractor ensures
the safety of the public on construction projects.
Republic Act 4566, the Contractor’s
License Law, provides that no contractor (including sub-contractor and
specialty contractor) shall engage in the business of contracting without first
having secured a PCAB license to conduct business.
The PCAB is an attached agency of
the DTI.
